Car Parking

There will be 980 spaces for car parking at the new hospital.

Car parking will be free to all visitors and staff.

Spaces will be zoned for Patient/Visitor/Staff.

There will be 68 ‘Blue Badge’ spaces. These spaces will be protected by the Traffic Regulation Order.   Provision has been made for 34 disabled parking spaces at the main entrance.  In addition there will be 34 disabled parking spaces close to A&E and the Orthopaedic Outpatient department. 

Public Transport

There will be a bus service every 20 minutes from Dumfries town centre to the hospital, and hospital to Dumfries town centre.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway are working with DGC and Swestrans to improve services for people throughout the region who need to travel to the hospital by bus.  

Walking & Cycling

NHS Dumfries and Galloway are working with Dumfries and Galloway Council to ensure good walking and cycle paths to and from Dumfries town.

There will be Staff Changing, showering, drying & bike storage facilities at the new hospital.

 

We are committed to supporting and encouraging staff who would like to walk or cycle to work at the new hospital.

We are committed to improving travel and transport to the new hospital as part of a wider ‘green travel’ strategy.
